We Start Moving Dirt on March 12th, 2018!
The East Bay is about to get it's first public bike park: Dirt World, in Richmond, California.
Spearheaded the team at Action Sports Construction and a volunteer crew of BMX riders and mountain bikers, this new 2.1-acre city park will feature pump tracks, jumps and obstacles, and a mini-BMX track. We have already brought in a huge amount of dirt -- and the soil sculpting commences on Feb. 1, 2018!
Thanks to your support we've already raised thousands of dollars. Now, as we sprint towards the finish line, we need your help to raise additional funding to cover our equipment costs during the build.
We're trying to raise $10,000 more for our final push -- this money will go to cover equipment rental costs during construction. If you can donate, please do. Just click on the button below.
We want to thank all our individual supporters and give a special shout-out to Title Nine sports apparel, which made a generous contribution and has really helped to spread the word about the this project. Title Nine operates a distribution center in Richmond and we want to thank them for being an active part of this community!
It is a great honor to partner with Alex Fowler -- a highly successful developer bike parks, BMX tracks, and mountain bike courses -- and his company Action Sports Construction.
An expert designer and equipment operator, Alex's skills are constantly in demand, with clients from around the globe hiring him to create recreational masterpieces.
For many years, he has created tracks and features for the Sea Otter Classic and he has long served as the lead builder for the BMX Olympic Training Center in Chula Vista. If you've been to Bijou Bike Park in South Lake Tahoe, the Polo Grounds dirt jumps in Aptos, or Santa Clara PAL BMX, then you've seen Alex's work.
Though he now lives in Santa Cruz, Alex has a special place in his heart for the East Bay, having grown up here. He's donated a ton of time to make Dirt World happen.

After some delays due to rain this winter, construction is now slated to start MARCH 12th! We're very stoked to start moving dirt.
We will be holding a community event at the Dirt World site on March 11 at 11AM to meet up, hang out and brainstorm. We have basic plans for the park -- lots of jumps, two pump tracks, a BMX/4X practice track -- but we want to hear your ideas. What do you want in terms of features and tracks? What do you want in terms of amenities -- benches, picnic tables, etc?
Please come out!
Some really awesome supporters have come forward in recent weeks to make Dirt World a reality. We will be we recognizing them in the days to come on the website, FB page, and at the park.
In particular, the Ice Chamber athletic training center has helped connect us to donors and will be holding a fundraiser March 3. More info here. We still need help with equipment costs, so please come out to the fundraiser, donate via GoFundMe, or reach out about making a substantial donation or in-kind contribution.
